Balham Blazers FC

Welcome to the Balham Blazers F.C. website. Balham Blazers is a football club based in South London with age group teams that play in the Tandridge League and the London County Saturday Youth Football League. The club was formed in 2001. For the League Season 2014/2015 we will have an Under 17 team, an Under 16 team, two Under 14 teams, two Under 13 teams, three Under 12 teams and an Under 11 team playing in the Tandridge League and two Under 10 teams, an Under 9 team and an Under 8 team playing in the London County Saturday Youth Football League. We also have an open age, First team, Balham FC, playing in the Surrey Elite Intermediate Football League, a Balham FC Youth (Under 18) team playing in the Southern Youth League and a Womens team, Balham Panthers FC, playing the Greater London Womens Football League.

New Physio

Having left these shores for a new challenge, after spells at Birmingham City and Stevenage, ex BBFC Coach, Robin Shroot, is now playing for Il Hodd in Norway. Further information.

Friendly Derby
After a season off whilst they were in separate divisions it was time, once again, for the BBFC U14 Colts and Eagles to stage their "Friendly Derby" when they met in the Tandridge A division on Sunday. Further rule

New U8 Coaches, Alfie Cruttwell and Theo Marks, can be seen in the picture above, a decade ago in 2004, having just won the Walter Perry Cup Final for BBFC U11s. Further rule

Match Abandoned
Balham's First Team match v Ripley Village FC on Saturday September 13th was abandoned in the second half after Balham striker, Jermaine Townsend, suffered a cardiac arrest. It was an incredibly traumatic experience for everyone there. Further information. red rule Panthers Make A Point
The newly formed Balham Panthers FC took a point in their first league game drawing 2-2 with London Phoenix on Sunday September 7th. Following a 3-1 win the week before in a pre season friendly this, as the final scoreline suggests was an even game. Further information. red rule

Langley Champs
The U12 BBFC Eagles traveled down to Kent to take part in the Club Langley pre-season tournament on Sunday Sept 7th. On arrival, the grass appeared to have been allowed to grow all summer and the goals were as wide as a Men's 11 aside goal. Further information. red rule

Starting At Sandhurst

Introducing Balham Panthers FC
This season, 2014-15, Balham FC are continuing to grow, adding a Ladies’ team to our armoury for the first time ever. We have welcomed Panthers WFC into the fold, an FA Charter Standard team who play in the Greater London Womens Football League Division 2 (South). Further rule

Football, Tennis And Pirates In Devon
Huge thanks to BBFC parents, Chris and Lisa Kerr, who organise a superb residential football tournament in July each year at the palatial Bryanston Boarding School in Devon, which our U8s took part in this time around on the weekend of July 19th........Further rule

Annual Presentation Evening
Four hundred people gathered at Trinity Fields on Friday July 11th for the annual BBFC Presentation Evening, at the end of our thirteenth season as a club. Once again, despite the threat of rain, we were lucky with the weather and the event, sponsored by Sullivan Thomas, was a great success.......... ........Further rule

Eddie's Amazing Season
What an amazing season Eddie Luchford had in 2013-14. Not only was he top scorer in the Southern Youth League with 34 goals in 20 games, twice as many as the runner up... ...........Further rule

When you consider that there are 30 teams and approximately 600 players in the Southern Youth League, to be voted Southern Youth League Player of the Season is an incredible achievement...............Further rule

Plate At The Abbey

Reigning In The Rain
Despite persistent rain, which at one point, on the first day of the Guildford City Tournament on June 28th/29th, caused a forty-five minute postponement, BBFC reigned supreme............. Further rule

As Holland were squeezing past Mexico in the last sixteen of the World Cup, BBFC U11 Eagles were readying themselves for a semi final in the Ruislip Rangers Tournament on Sunday June 29th............ Further rule

Our Bursary Fund offers full or part bursaries to players selected to play for the club who can't afford all or part of the fees. To keep funding this scheme as the club grows we invite parents and friends of the club........... Further rule

U16s Triumph at Brockham
Following the heartbreak of losing in a penalty shoot out in the final of the NPL Tournament two weeks ago, the U16s went one better on Saturday 14th June to lift the Brockham World Cup, in a high-quality tournament at Dorking. ........Further rule

A disappointed Balham U16 side went up to collect Runners Up medals at the NPL Tournament at Teddington on Saturday May 31st. The boys lost on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time against the host side NPL........Further information. red rule

94th Minute Heartbreak
A cruelly deflected goal in the 94th minute of the SYL Invitational Plate Final at River Lane on Thursday May 29th meant heartbreak again for the BBFC Youth Team in their second cup final of the season........Further rule

Having done brilliantly to get to the Tandridge League Cup Final, in their first season in the league, the BBFC U11 Eagles had to be content with runners up medals after an uncharacteristic bad day at the office in the final played at Chipstead FC on May 18th.......... Further rule

Congratulations to BBFC U11 Colts who were runners up at the Ewell Saxons tournament on Saturday May 17th. Having started with two draws in the group stages the team went on to win four games in a row, including a penalty shoot-out, to reach the final......... Further information. red rule

Many congratulations to the Balham FC First Team who were crowned Surrey South Eastern League Champions on Saturday May 10th. The BBFC U13 Colts dramatically lifted the Tandridge League Shield at Chipstead on Sunday April 27th defeating Coney Hall in an very tight final. Down 1-2 with only ten seconds left to play, the Colts equalised through a superb James Eghan goal to take the tie to extra time........Further rule
